  • Vietnam signs agreements with Russia to develop nuclear power plant and strengthen energy cooperation.
  • Deals include building reactors and securing stable LNG supply to meet rising domestic energy demand.
  • Partnership aims to enhance energy security, diversify sources, and support Vietnam’s long-term economic growth.

Vietnam has strengthened its energy cooperation with Russia by signing a series of agreements focused on building a local nuclear power plant and securing a stable supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The official visit of Pham Minh Chinh to Moscow resulted in the finalization of the deals which demonstrate the increasing strategic relationship between the two nations in energy cooperation.

The agreements Vietnam signed will help the country achieve its goal of maintaining energy security through increased domestic power needs and unpredictable worldwide energy market conditions.

The Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power plant construction project represents Vietnam's first nuclear energy development through its essential partnership work.

The project will build two reactors which Russian state nuclear agency established as their main operational task because they will generate approximately 2400 megawatt power.

The initiative will enhance Vietnam's electricity production abilities because it will enable the country to meet its increasing industrial power needs while solving its ongoing electricity shortages.

The agreements also extend to oil and gas exploration and production, which create stronger energy ties between the two countries. Vietnam plans to decrease its reliance on conventional energy systems through nuclear power development and LNG supply contracts.

The agreements between the two nations establish a major achievement which demonstrates their dedication to long-term energy partnerships between Vietnam and Russia.

The partnership will help Vietnam achieve energy independence while driving economic development and creating a sustainable energy system for the future.
