Qatar and Egypt explore new investment initiatives across industry, tourism, real estate and logistics, while Egypt plans a dedicated department to simplify procedures and support Qatari investors.
The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) has held discussions with Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid Saleh, to explore new initiatives aimed at expanding mutual investment and strengthening economic ties between the two countries. The meeting, held in Doha, focused on improving investment procedures, facilitating private-sector cooperation and developing joint projects across key economic sectors.
QBA Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani led the association’s delegation at the meeting, which was attended by the Egyptian ambassador to Qatar, Walid Fahmy Al-Faqi, and representatives of the Qatari business community. Discussions highlighted the potential to build long-term investment partnerships by connecting businesses with opportunities in both markets.

Sheikh Faisal emphasised the importance of strengthening Qatar-Egypt economic relations and expanding private-sector participation. He identified Egypt’s large domestic market, diverse economic base and strategic geographical location as important advantages for investors. Opportunities exist across manufacturing, industrial production, tourism, real estate, logistics and services, with Qatari businesses showing interest in expanding their presence in the Egyptian market.
The QBA chairman also stressed the need for transparent investment information, streamlined administrative procedures and effective mechanisms to address challenges faced by investors. Improved access to information on investment opportunities, licensing, land allocation and regulatory requirements could help companies evaluate projects and make informed decisions.
In a move to facilitate investment, Saleh announced that Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade would establish a dedicated department to manage the affairs of Qatari investors. The department will help simplify procedures, monitor investment projects and address obstacles encountered by businesses. It is also expected to provide information on available projects, investment incentives and applicable regulatory requirements.
The minister highlighted the Egyptian government’s efforts to improve the investment climate and encourage greater foreign participation in priority sectors. He also emphasised the importance of developing a more balanced partnership in which investment flows in both directions, enabling businesses and institutions in Qatar and Egypt to identify opportunities in each other’s markets.

Tourism and real estate emerged as important areas for potential collaboration. Qatari investors have already established a presence in Egypt’s hospitality sector, and businesses are exploring opportunities to develop hotels, resorts, tourism facilities and related infrastructure. These projects could support Egypt’s tourism expansion plans while creating opportunities for long-term investment partnerships.
The discussions also highlighted the potential role of small and medium-sized enterprises in strengthening bilateral economic ties. QBA representatives called for dedicated support mechanisms to help smaller businesses navigate administrative requirements, obtain reliable market information and establish connections with relevant Egyptian authorities.
