  • Vietnam strengthens cooperation with ASML to build competitive semiconductor industry and attract global high-tech investment.
  • Government proposes training centers, supply chain integration, and partnerships with ASML to develop skilled workforce.
  • ASML explores expanding supply chains, establishing presence in Vietnam, supporting innovation, and semiconductor ecosystem growth.

The Vietnamese government is increasing efforts to build up a competitive chip industry by further cooperating with Dutch leading chip equipment provider ASML, according to officials.

ASML, famous worldwide for its top-class lithography equipment for making new-generation chips, has increasingly expressed its interest in the Vietnamese chip industry by holding high-level meetings and participating in top industry events such as SEMIExpo Vietnam 2025.

While holding a work session, Vietnamese Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang greeted Eduard Stiphout, Senior Vice President of ASML with responsibilities for strategic supply chain and procurement, and expressed his appreciation for their company’s interest in pursuing strategic collaboration.

According to Thang, this growing interest from ASML indicates that Vietnam’s growing dynamics, favorable investment environment, and active and supportive government policies to attract major technology companies are now reality.

The proposal was put forth by the officials in this matter to ensure ASML collaborated with the Dutch Embassy in Vietnam, in addition to the National Innovation Centre in Hoa Lac, to develop a comprehensive roadmap for semiconductor development.

This entails developing a training and development centre in semiconductor research in the campus of the National Innovation Centre in Vietnam through proper financial systems. ASML is also required in this matter to support qualified companies in Vietnam to be integrated into the global supply chain of ASML with the aim of developing Vietnam's semiconductor industry.

The key sectors where partnerships are expected to happen include training development, expert exchange, internship opportunities, and scholarships to develop a pool of skilled employees to fulfill rigorous technical specifications in the field of semiconductor production.

ASML is apparently exploring opportunities to not only strengthen the supply chain in Vietnam but also establish a formal business presence in the country and explore the possibility of equipment supply to potential customers in the concerned nation.

Deepening ties with ASML is part of Vietnam's overall strategy for developing its semiconductor ecosystem, encouraging innovation, and becoming more integrated into the worldwide high-tech value chain.
