The United States has declared its desire to expand strategic partnerships with Vietnam through both direct and worldwide diplomatic efforts.
The United States seeks to strengthen its relationship with Vietnam through advancements in trade agreements and security partnerships and diplomatic dialogues.
Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman presented these plans during her recent trip to Hanoi where she met with Vietnamese officials to discuss partnership development.
Sherman emphasized that both nations should maintain their strong relationship which exists through their common democratic principles and which will benefit regional economic growth.
Sherman showed that the U.S. government considers Vietnam as an essential partner for establishing a free and open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. She emphasized that Vietnam serves as a fundamental partner who helps maintain regional stability while both countries work together to ensure security.

The two countries have established a strong collaborative relationship which covers trade and climate action and health matters but the visit shows their intention to develop their connections further.
Sherman repeated that the U.S. government plans to improve people-to-people relationships and trade links and investment between both countries which will help Vietnam develop its status as a worldwide economic center.
The strengthened partnership between the two parties will work together to tackle three shared obstacles, which include the ongoing global health emergency and the need for environmental protection and the process of especially during the current worldwide recovery from pandemic effects.
The United States and Vietnam will establish their future partnership through Vietnam's essential role in both multilateral organizations and the Indo-Pacific Strategy development.
