A delegation from the UAE Space Agency, headed by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Chairman, visited Japan to advance potential international collaboration in space exploration, scientific research, and advanced space industries. The visit is a part of the UAE National Space Strategy 2030, which aims to create a sustainable space economy, promote scientific research, and create private sector opportunities in space technologies.
Dr. Al Falasi stressed the UAE’s determination to a robust and sustainable space ecosystem through Global and International partnerships for a sustainable future. The delegation toured the JAXA Tsukuba Space Centre to witness President Dr. Hiroshi Yamakawa’s presentation of Japan’s latest state-of-the-art mission initiatives, including planet sensing systems, satellite laboratories, and deep space exploration programs.

The visit featured a tour of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Tobeshima Plant, a prominent manufacturing centre for spacecraft and satellite built, for potential industrial collaborations.The engagement enhances the relationship between Japan and the UAE on space engagement, leveraging Japan's know-how in aerospace innovation and the UAE's aim to be a regional space hub.
The visit occurred shortly after the Space Days Kazakhstan – 2025 International Forum (September 8–9), which brought together aerospace stakeholders from around the world. The UAE space sector is valued at $10 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow further by 2030, due primarily to the Emirates Mars Mission and satellite development projects.
