Oman and Thailand sign an MoU to expand energy cooperation through investment, technology exchange, training, research and joint projects. The agreement also establishes an Oman-Thailand Energy Policy Dialogue for long-term collaboration.
Oman and Thailand have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, with the agreement focusing on investment, technology exchange, training and the development of joint energy projects.
The MoU is signed by Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals, and Akanat Promphan, Thailand’s Minister of Energy, in Bangkok. The agreement reflects both countries’ efforts to expand economic ties and create new opportunities for cooperation between their institutions and companies.

Under the agreement, Oman and Thailand will encourage investment in the energy sector and strengthen bilateral consultations. The two sides will also exchange policies, information and technologies, while exploring opportunities to develop and operate joint energy projects.
The MoU places particular emphasis on knowledge sharing and human capital development. Both countries will facilitate training programmes, expert visits and other capacity-building activities to support the exchange of technical expertise and experience in the energy sector.
A key outcome of the agreement is the establishment of an Oman-Thailand Energy Policy Dialogue. The platform will bring together representatives from the private sectors of both countries and provide an institutional mechanism for identifying potential joint projects and developing long-term cooperation programmes.
The agreement also provides a framework for research cooperation, allowing institutions in Oman and Thailand to exchange knowledge and expertise while exploring areas of mutual interest. Such collaboration is expected to contribute to workforce development and strengthen technical capabilities in the energy industry.
The MoU comes as Oman participates in Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, where the country is promoting opportunities linked to energy transition, investment and international partnerships. Oman’s participation also highlights its efforts to strengthen integration across its energy ecosystem and support the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Thailand has previously expressed interest in securing additional energy supplies from Oman and expanding cooperation in energy investment, including clean energy projects under Oman Vision 2040.
