Nepal and Serbia sign an MoU to establish a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism for regular discussions on mutual interests, while Nepal and Rwanda sign a separate cooperation agreement.
Nepal and Serbia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM), creating an institutional framework for regular discussions on matters of mutual interest and concern.
The agreement was signed in New York on Friday on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Serbia’s Foreign Minister Marko Djuric signed the MoU during their meeting.

Following the signing, the two foreign ministers expressed satisfaction over the agreement and discussed various aspects of bilateral relations. Their discussions also covered the importance of global solidarity and international cooperation on climate action.
The newly established consultation mechanism is intended to provide a structured platform for Nepal and Serbia to hold regular consultations on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest. According to the secretariat of Nepal’s Foreign Minister, the mechanism is expected to support further development of relations between the two countries and help identify new areas for cooperation.
The agreement comes as Nepal continues its diplomatic engagements on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York. The consultation mechanism is expected to facilitate more regular communication between the two sides and provide an avenue for reviewing existing areas of cooperation while exploring additional opportunities.
In a separate development on Friday, Nepal and Rwanda also signed a General Cooperation Agreement during an event held in New York alongside the 81st UN General Assembly.
The agreement was signed by Foreign Minister Khanal and Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe.

According to the minister’s secretariat, the Nepal-Rwanda agreement is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and establishing a foundation for expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The two agreements highlight Nepal’s ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral engagement with countries outside its traditional areas of cooperation through institutional mechanisms and broader diplomatic partnerships.
