Iran and Kazakhstan have emphasized expanding bilateral cooperation across trade, transport, industry, mining, and logistics during high-level meetings held in Astana. The discussions took place between Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Seyyed Mohammad Atabak and Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev, as both countries explored ways to strengthen economic integration and accelerate joint industrial projects.
Officials from both nations agreed to draft and sign new memoranda of understanding aimed at facilitating industrial collaboration and increasing bilateral trade volumes. The talks also focused on resolving financial and banking challenges faced by contractors and industrial companies operating between the two countries. Both sides discussed creating mechanisms to ease bank guarantee issuance and improve financial support for cross-border projects.
Kazakhstan expressed readiness to provide legal and administrative support for greater participation of Iranian companies in industrial and infrastructure projects within the country. Industry experts believe the agreements could strengthen economic connectivity across the Eurasian region while supporting long-term industrial cooperation and investment flows between Tehran and Astana.

Transport and logistics cooperation also emerged as a major focus area during separate discussions between Iran’s Industry Minister and Kazakhstan’s Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev. The two countries reviewed opportunities to increase maritime trade through the Caspian Sea by strengthening shipping connectivity between Iranian ports such as Anzali, Amirabad, and Nowshahr and Kazakhstan’s Aktau port.
Both nations additionally explored attracting Kazakh investments into Iran’s northern ports and expanding vessel supply operations in the Caspian Sea. Increasing maritime shipping lines and improving customs clearance, cargo handling, and logistics infrastructure were identified as key priorities for boosting bilateral trade efficiency.
The renewed engagement aligns with broader regional efforts to enhance trade corridors and transport infrastructure across Central Asia and the Eurasian region. Analysts note that Iran and Kazakhstan are increasingly prioritizing strategic connectivity partnerships to strengthen supply chains, diversify export routes, and improve regional trade resilience amid evolving geopolitical and economic conditions.
