Japan, SKorea, China See Tourism Boom from Indian Winter Travel

Grena, Correspondent, Asia Manufacturing Review

South Korea follows Japan, China, Taiwan, and Kazakhstan in experiencing a tourism boom, as Indian tourists rush to memorable winter activities in Asia on account of the increasing appeal of unique winter activities. These destinations are also offering the Indian traveller a broad spectrum of thrilling escapes with snow-capped mountains, colorful cultural festivals, heritage towns and ski resorts. This interest boom is driven by improved connectivity, easier visa procedures and the growing demand of more immersive and adventure based travel experiences during the winter season.

As winter approaches, an exciting shift is unfolding in global tourism. Destinations known for their frosty climates, cultural richness, and vibrant winter experiences are witnessing a surge in outbound tourism.  South Korea has joined the ranks of Japan, China, Taiwan, and Kazakhstan as the preferred new destinations that travellers have considered as their ideal winter holiday. The wave of interest around the world, especially in India showcases how winter escapes are evolving beyond traditional beach vacations into more immersive, seasonal experiences.

A Winter Wonderland across Asia

Based on recent data from the digital travel platforms such as Agoda, South Korea, as well as Japan, China, Taiwan, and Kazakhstan have recorded a remarkable rise in tourism during the winter period. The statistics shows a 30% year-on-year increase in international travel in the period between December 2025 and February 2026 and these Asian destinations set the pace. Winter sports, local festivals and the beauty of snow-capped scenery have driven this upward trend, with travellers becoming more and more focused on adventure and culture immersion through the experiences.

These countries have famous winter attractions but the demand does not only focus on the popular attractions alone. Emerging winter spots such as the scenic mountain scenery of Kazakhstan and the festive lantern festivals of Taiwan are gaining traction, while traditional winter holiday spots such as the hot springs in Japan and the ski resort of South Korea still continue to shine brightly.
