Vietnam and Poland have established a Strategic Partnership and adopted a 2026-2030 action plan, targeting $6 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 while expanding cooperation in technology, manufacturing, defence, education and tourism.

Vietnam and Poland have elevated their bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership, establishing a framework to expand cooperation in trade, investment, technology, defence, education and tourism. The announcement was made by Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk following their talks in Hanoi. The two countries also adopted a joint action plan for 2026-2030 to implement the partnership.

A key objective of the agreement is to increase bilateral trade to $6 billion by 2030 through the effective implementation of the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement. Poland aims to serve as a gateway for Vietnamese products entering Central and Eastern European markets, while Vietnam seeks to provide Polish and other European businesses with greater access to Southeast Asia.

The two governments will work to facilitate trade and investment, improve market access and address barriers faced by businesses. They will also consider establishing an intergovernmental committee on economic cooperation to monitor progress and resolve trade-related challenges. Priority sectors include advanced technology, industry, agriculture, consumer goods and services.

Cooperation will also expand into renewable energy, smart agriculture, digital transformation, space technology, pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding, railways, strategic infrastructure and environmental protection. Both sides highlighted technology transfer and sustainable development as important elements of their economic engagement.

Science, technology, research, innovation and digital transformation are set to become additional pillars of the partnership. The countries plan to strengthen links among universities, research institutions and businesses, while expanding cooperation in education, scientific research, vocational training and skilled workforce development.

The agreement also covers defence industry cooperation, training exchanges and efforts to combat cybercrime, transnational crime and other security threats. In education and tourism, the two sides exchanged cooperation documents covering higher education and scientific research, as well as tourism. Vietnam also welcomed LOT Polish Airlines’ announcement that it would resume direct flights between Warsaw and Hanoi, supporting business travel and people-to-people exchanges.

The new Strategic Partnership builds on more than 75 years of diplomatic relations established in 1950. Both governments said the framework would help translate longstanding ties into practical projects and broader economic and cultural cooperation.
