The Syrian minister also pointed to the potential role of digital applications in making transport services easier to access and improving operational efficiency. Digital tools could support better transport management as the country explores ways to modernise services and address its fleet requirements.

Al-Balushi expressed the company’s interest in exploring investment opportunities in the Syrian market and developing sustainable partnerships to meet the transport sector’s needs. Such cooperation could also help Omani vehicle manufacturing expand its presence in regional markets.

Oman Automotive Industries specialises in bus production. Its manufacturing facility is located in the Duqm Special Economic Zone and began operations in 2021. The company produces buses for urban public transport, school services and intercity travel. It is also diversifying its production lines to include armoured vehicles.

The meeting reflects efforts by both sides to explore industrial and commercial partnerships in transport. For Syria, potential cooperation could support fleet renewal and the adoption of modern transport technologies, while providing an avenue for Omani manufacturers to explore a new market.
