Uzbekistan, Malaysia Sign MoU to Boost Business Ties

Uzbekistan and Malaysia inked a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen direct business interactions between entrepreneurs of the two countries and take their economic cooperation to a higher level. The agreement was signed at the sidelines of the Makkah Halal Forum in Saudi Arabia.

Davronbek Kurbonov, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, was the most senior official of Uzbekistan who signed the document. Zuber Bakri, President of the International Chamber of Marketing and Trade of Malaysia, signed on behalf of Malaysia.

The MoU highlights the collaboration framework to bring closer the two sides through: Exchange of trade delegations and business missions Cooperation on joint investment projects Sharing of market information and business opportunities Encouragement of participation in exhibitions, trade fairs, and forums Implementation of joint technical and educational programs

The main areas of work for the cooperation were prioritized in halal industry, agro, industrial sector, food production, textiles, and services. The accord is slated to establish a strong basis for initiating a new joint venture, grabbing mutual investments, and broadly accessing markets for the businesses of both countries.

This MoU showcases the rising desire for economic linkages enhancement between Central Asia and Southeast Asia, especially through the window of halal, certified products and agro, processing, which are seen as complementing the respective strengths of the two countries.

Uzbekistan intends to open up its export market and attract Malaysian mastery in halal standards and food technology, while Malaysia is eyeing the agro, industrial base, which is not only expanding in Uzbekistan but also that country's location, for opportunities. The signing marks a step toward more structured and sustainable business partnerships, potentially leading to increased trade volumes and technology transfers in targeted sectors.
