  • Vietnam and China expand agricultural trade cooperation through increased bilateral exports.
  • Guangxi region serves as key gateway for growing cross-border farm commerce.
  • Smart agriculture projects boost productivity, sustainability, and high-quality regional supply chains.

Vietnam and China are expanding their agricultural trade partnership which shows their economic relationship with each other continues to develop.

The two countries have experienced a substantial increase in agricultural trade between Vietnam and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region which serves as a key southern Chinese entry point, as their agricultural trade reached a value of 18.23 billion yuan (about USD 2.6 billion) in 2025.

The Chinese markets showed strong demand for Vietnamese fruit and other high-value products which drove this increase, while Guangxi maintained its agricultural commodity exports to Vietnam and other ASEAN markets.

Vietnam has increased its agricultural exports to China particularly in fresh fruit durian and lobster and cassava starch and fish meal which demonstrates Vietnam's rising role as an agricultural supplier within the Southeast Asian supply chain.

The trade relations between Guangxi and Vietnam demonstrate mutual advantages because the region transports garlic and citrus and melon and potato and aquatic products to Vietnam while using its developed logistical systems.

The two parties have created agricultural cooperation pilot zones in Ninh and various Guangxi border cities to improve sustainable trade operations between their countries.

The partnership has achieved a significant milestone through its development of smart agriculture projects which include fully digitalized pig farming systems and advanced fruit quality enhancement technologies.

The agricultural value chain benefits from these innovations because they help farms increase productivity while producing higher quality premium products and maintaining environmental sustainability.

The China (Guangxi) Vietnam smart fisheries cooperation zone in Quảng Ninh province operates as a joint project that supports aquaculture modernization through its implementation of smart deep-sea fish cages in Hạ Long Bay.

The officials from both countries will extend their international agricultural trade training programs while they support the development of overseas bonded warehouses and enhance their partnerships with ASEAN markets through better coordination between agricultural agencies.

The two countries will achieve high-quality agricultural development through these measures which will create benefits for Vietnamese and Chinese producers and traders and consumers.
