The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Morocco have discussed regional developments and efforts to strengthen security and stability in the Middle East during a telephone conversation between their foreign ministers. The talks also focused on strengthening bilateral relations and identifying opportunities to expand cooperation between the two countries.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held the call with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates. The ministers exchanged views on the latest regional developments and discussed diplomatic efforts to promote peace, security and stability.

The conversation also provided an opportunity to review the longstanding relationship between the UAE and Morocco. Both sides explored ways to strengthen cooperation in support of their shared interests and the economic growth and prosperity of their respective countries.

The UAE and Morocco maintain established diplomatic and economic ties, with cooperation spanning trade, investment, infrastructure, energy and other areas of mutual interest. In December 2023, the two countries announced an enhanced partnership focused on economic development and closer cooperation across strategic sectors.

The latest discussion comes amid continued diplomatic engagement among regional governments over security challenges affecting the Middle East. Regular communication between foreign ministers provides an avenue for exchanging perspectives, coordinating diplomatic efforts and addressing developments that could affect regional stability.

Although no new agreement or specific initiative was announced following the telephone conversation, the exchange reaffirmed the two countries’ interest in maintaining close consultations and advancing their bilateral partnership.
