UAE, Kazakhstan Expand Cooperation in Transport, Energy and AI

The UAE and Kazakhstan expand cooperation in transport, energy, investment and artificial intelligence, while signing an agreement with Uzbekistan to support the Central Asia-South Asia railway project and strengthen regional connectivity.

The United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan expand cooperation across transport, energy, investment and advanced technology, with a focus on strengthening regional connectivity and developing new strategic projects. The developments emerge during a UAE delegation visit to Kazakhstan led by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Kazakhstan.

During the visit, the UAE signs a trilateral memorandum of understanding with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to support the development of the Central Asia-South Asia railway project. The agreement seeks to improve rail connectivity between Central and South Asia, strengthen transport networks and facilitate trade and regional economic integration.

The delegation also holds investment discussions with government and private-sector representatives, including Etihad Rail, AD Ports Group, Masdar and Presight. The talks review existing UAE-Kazakhstan projects and explore additional opportunities in infrastructure, transport, energy, investment and technology.

Al Mazrouei also meets Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss the development of the Middle Corridor and potential joint projects involving AD Ports Group. The discussions further cover artificial intelligence and digital transformation, reflecting the growing role of advanced technologies in the two countries’ economic partnership.

The UAE delegation’s visit also includes participation in the Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference in Almaty. Discussions at the event focus on energy security, supply resilience and regional cooperation, while both sides explore opportunities to expand collaboration in high-performance computing infrastructure and advanced technologies.

The latest discussions build on the broader strategic partnership between the UAE and Kazakhstan. The two countries have been expanding cooperation in infrastructure, renewable energy, logistics, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, alongside efforts to increase mutual investment and develop joint projects.

The UAE and Kazakhstan have also previously advanced major technology and energy initiatives, including cooperation involving AI-powered solutions for Kazakhstan’s energy sector and high-performance computing infrastructure. The latest agreements and discussions strengthen the UAE-Kazakhstan economic partnership while linking it more closely with regional transport corridors. Cooperation involving Uzbekistan on the Central Asia-South Asia railway project further highlights the countries’ efforts to improve connectivity, trade flows and economic integration across Central and South Asia.
