- Seatrium, Cochin Shipyard sign MoU to strengthen Asian offshore collaboration.
- Partnership targets MRO projects, technology sharing, and regional energy transition.
- Collaboration builds on prior agreement for jack-up rigs in India.
Singapore's Seatrium Offshore Technology Pte Ltd (SOT) has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), the largest shipbuilder and ship repairer in India, to enhance collaboration in the offshore industry throughout Asia.
The MoU allows the two firms to merge their unique strengths - SOT's engineering proficiency, specialized equipment, and offshore solutions with CSL's vast infrastructure, fabrication capabilities, and ship repair knowledge to capitalize on business prospects.
The collaboration will concentrate on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) initiatives for clients operating in Asia, SOT announced on Thursday. It stated that the MoU was signed online, signifying an important partnership in offshore engineering throughout Asia. Both firms will examine prospects to grow into additional significant offshore markets in the area.
Winston Cheng, Senior Vice-President and Head of SOT, said, "This MoU is a strategic milestone in Seatrium's efforts to expand our global footprint across Asia, with India identified as a key market for long-term growth."
"India's rapidly developing offshore energy sector and rising demand for maritime infrastructure present compelling opportunities for collaboration and innovation. By combining CSL's robust local capabilities with Seatrium's deep engineering expertise and technology strengths, we aim to deliver integrated offshore asset solutions that meet the region's evolving needs. Our shared goal is to support India's energy transition, enhance its maritime capabilities, and position Seatrium as a trusted partner in driving sustainable offshore development," he said.
Sivakumar A, General Manager, Ship Repair, CSL, said, "The MoU marks a significant step forward in CSL's efforts to expand our offshore footprint. Our decision to strengthen collaboration with Seatrium demonstrates our confidence in their global expertise, enabling us to jointly deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions to clients across the region."

The MoU establishes a structure for collaborative marketing, project implementation, and technology sharing, laying the groundwork for a lasting alliance with CSL to aid in regional energy transition and offshore growth.
It expands on a previous agreement established in November 2024 between Seatrium, via its subsidiary Seatrium Letourneau USA, Inc., and CSL to collaboratively design and provides essential equipment for jack-up rigs catering to the Indian market.
The MoU additionally establishes the groundwork for Seatrium's enduring involvement in India's offshore sector. Being among the top energy consumers globally, India is actively developing both onshore and offshore resources to enhance energy security and address the needs stemming from swift industrialisation and urbanisation.
