- Siemens and TRUMPF join forces to integrate digital manufacturing solutions
- The collaboration develops open interfaces to link factory equipment with enterprise systems
- Manufacturers gain faster time-to-market, easier system expansion, and enhanced production performance
Siemens and TRUMPF have established a partnership to enhance the future of industrial production. This partnership combines Siemens' digital manufacturing portfolio and TRUMPF's experience in machine tools and laser systems to simplify production processes and allow manufacturers to better adapt to changes in demand.
One of the partnership's goals is to eliminate capacity loss in factories caused by disconnected systems. To that end, the two organizations are working together to create open, standardized interfaces to foster efficient data exchange between operational equipment and enterprise systems. This will help businesses make decisions faster, ability to adjust production environments for responsiveness to higher demand, and promote scalable solutions for all business sizes.
Cedrik Neike, Member of the Managing Board at Siemens AG and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries stated, "Real transformation in manufacturing begins when machines and systems work together seamlessly. This partnership with TRUMPF helps make that a reality. Together, we’re enabling faster, smarter production workflows by linking key technologies and reducing barriers between equipment and software".
As software continues to take center stage in today's manufacturing landscape, bridging software and machinery means software developers will have to work in close collaboration with machinery makers.

Siemens and TRUMPF will put their focus on expanding modular system architectures and building on common platforms to reduce innovation cycles and develop practical, flexible solutions. Having a standardized approach to system design will reduce engineering and operating costs, but it will also bolster process reliability and adaptability for growth over time.
The cooperative agreement, together with agreement between machinery makers and other forms of machinery or automation, will facilitate connectivity for the TRUMPF machines - such as lasers, press brakes and automated systems - with other shop floor components (like robots and part recognition) to create a true connected experience for manufacturers.
Customers will benefit from shortened time-to-market timelines, easier expansion of systems,, and enhanced performance in their production.
"TRUMPF is already a leader in smart factory solutions for sheet metal processing. This collaboration with Siemens strengthens our role as a full-solution provider. With open connections and simplified data flow, we’re helping our customers gain more from every machine and every process step", added Stephan Mayer, CEO of Machine Tools at TRUMPF.
Starting with a long history, Siemens and TRUMPF are committed to tapping the value of partnership as industry grapples with complex industrial challenges and undergoes digital transformation in manufacturing worldwide.
