Qatar and Kuwait sign an MoU to strengthen financial cooperation, exchange expertise and information, and explore new areas of partnership during the 2026 AIIB Annual Meeting in Doha.
Qatar and Kuwait have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen financial cooperation and expand collaboration between the two countries. The agreement is signed on the sidelines of the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), hosted by Qatar in Doha.
The MoU is signed by Qatar’s Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, and Kuwait’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Yacoub Al Sayed Al Rifai. The agreement provides a framework for enhancing cooperation in the financial sector and promoting the exchange of expertise and information between the two countries.

Al Kuwari says the agreement reflects the close relations between Qatar and Kuwait and demonstrates their commitment to strengthening financial cooperation based on mutual trust and partnership. He adds that the MoU will support the exchange of financial knowledge and experiences, helping both countries develop cooperation in areas of shared interest.
Under the agreement, Qatar and Kuwait will work to facilitate the exchange of financial expertise and information and share experiences in the financial sector. The MoU also provides an opportunity for both sides to identify and explore new areas where cooperation can be expanded.
The agreement comes alongside broader discussions between the two finance ministers on strengthening bilateral relations. During their meeting, the ministers discuss cooperation in the financial, economic, investment and trade sectors, as well as developments and issues of mutual interest.
The signing takes place as Qatar hosts the AIIB’s 2026 Annual Meeting in Doha, bringing together representatives and officials to discuss infrastructure investment and economic cooperation. The event provides a platform for participating countries to hold bilateral meetings and explore opportunities for stronger economic partnerships.
For Qatar and Kuwait, the new financial cooperation framework is expected to support closer institutional engagement and provide channels for sharing knowledge and expertise.
