Qatar and Singapore review progress in their bilateral cooperation during a meeting of the Implementation Monitoring Mechanism under the Qatar-Singapore Joint Supreme Committee in Doha. The meeting focuses on ongoing initiatives and opportunities to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, co-chair the third meeting of the Implementation Monitoring Mechanism. The mechanism supports the work of the Qatar-Singapore High Level Joint Committee by following up on bilateral initiatives and facilitating their implementation.

During the meeting, the two sides review developments across areas of cooperation and discuss ways to strengthen existing bilateral relations. The mechanism is designed to translate agreements and initiatives under the Joint Committee into practical outcomes and maintain regular follow-up between the two countries.
Balakrishnan is visiting Qatar from September 16 to 17 for a working visit. In addition to co-chairing the monitoring mechanism, he is scheduled to meet senior Qatari leaders and officials to exchange views on regional and international developments.
The discussions take place against the backdrop of wider regional developments. Qatar and Singapore also exchange views on diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, regional security and stability, as well as issues concerning maritime navigation. Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani separately meets Balakrishnan to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
Qatar and Singapore maintain longstanding relations through the High Level Joint Committee, which serves as the primary platform for advancing bilateral cooperation. The Implementation Monitoring Mechanism provides a regular framework for reviewing progress and identifying areas where cooperation can be further developed.

The latest meeting therefore provides both countries with an opportunity to assess the implementation of existing initiatives and discuss additional areas of engagement.
