- Omani and Spanish firms partner to locally manufacture wind towers, boosting Oman’s renewable energy industrial base.
- The collaboration will transfer advanced wind-tower technology and know-how to Oman, enhancing local expertise.
- Estimated RO 120 million market value underscores significant economic potential in Oman’s green energy sector.
Ophiolite Oman LLC, a subsidiary of the A. Mohamed & Ahmed Al Khonji Group, has entered into a strategic partnership with Spain’s Wind technic Engineering to manufacture wind towers locally in Oman. This initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and supports the country’s plan to diversify its energy mix by strengthening its renewable energy sector.
The collaboration combines Ophiolite Oman’s expertise in precast concrete engineering with Wind technic’s global experience in designing and building hybrid concrete wind towers. Together, both companies aim to accelerate the growth of wind energy infrastructure in Oman and reduce reliance on imported components through localisation.
Tariq bin Najeeb Al Khonji, Managing Director of Ophiolite Oman, said the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Oman’s renewable energy ambitions. He noted that localizing wind tower manufacturing in Oman will introduce advanced technology, enable faster project execution, and support the national sustainability agenda.
A major component of this partnership is the transfer of technical knowledge and operational know-how. Al Khonji highlighted that the initiative will help develop local engineering capabilities, strengthen industrial skills, and create new opportunities in wind tower production and related manufacturing activities. This move is expected to expand the country’s green-energy workforce and enhance local technical expertise.
