Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan reaffirm allied relations, expanding cooperation in trade, investment, transport, energy and regional connectivity during high-level talks in Cholpon-Ata.
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during high-level talks in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. The meeting underscored the growing strategic partnership between the two countries, with both leaders pledging to expand cooperation across trade, investment, transport, energy and regional connectivity.
President Zhaparov described the recently signed Treaty on Allied Relations between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan as a historic milestone that opens a new chapter in bilateral cooperation. He noted that the agreement elevates ties to an allied level and provides a stronger institutional framework for implementing joint economic, political and infrastructure projects.

The leaders reviewed the steady progress achieved through the Interstate Council of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, which held its third meeting alongside the presidential talks. Economic cooperation featured prominently in the discussions. The two presidents agreed to intensify efforts to increase bilateral trade, promote cross-border investment and encourage stronger engagement between their business communities. Transport and regional connectivity were identified as key pillars of the partnership. The two presidents exchanged views on developments in Central Asia and the South Caucasus while reaffirming their commitment to maintaining regional peace, stability and sustainable development.
