  • Kazakhstan pushes regional cooperation on rare earth metals research and technology.

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has suggested initiating the collaborative creation of a detailed strategy for enhancing the transport network in Central Asia, according to TurkicWorld. Tokayev expressed this at the Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Tashkent.

"To avoid duplication, checks, and excessive bureaucratic procedures at border crossings, we consider it advisable to explore the implementation of a cargo tracking system. In order to further strengthen the region's potential, we propose to begin the joint development of a transport strategy for Central Asia," he said.

The president stated that there are considerable opportunities arising from the developing networks of industrial centers. In the context of their ongoing advancement, the emphasis should be on initiating high-tech projects.

"A promising area for cooperation is the rare earth metals sector. Our countries possess significant but still insufficiently studied reserves of such resources. Efforts could be combined to attract advanced technology and implement innovative solutions in the region. Kazakhstan has proposed the creation of a research center for rare earth metals in Astana, which could provide investors with up-to-date information on available deposits and technologies for their development," he said.

Kazakhstan’s proposal reflects the broader regional push to modernize transport, integrate emerging technologies into economic cooperation, and strengthen connectivity. By encouraging digital systems, an improved transport network, and joint research, Tokayev emphasized that coordinated action can boost trade efficiency and support long-term development across Central Asia.
