Kazakhstan and Mongolia discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in digitalization, information technology and innovation during talks between Kazakh Ambassador to Mongolia Almas Seitakynov and Mongolia’s Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications Nomin Chinbat.
The discussions focus on the current state of cooperation in the digital sector and identify areas for further collaboration. Key areas include the digitalisation of public services, development of e-government systems, artificial intelligence, information security and cybersecurity.

During the meeting, Seitakynov highlights Kazakhstan’s progress in the digital transformation of public administration and expresses interest in strengthening practical cooperation between government agencies, organisations and information technology companies from both countries. The discussions seek to translate existing bilateral ties into more direct institutional and commercial engagement in the technology sector.
The two sides also explore opportunities to establish direct contacts between representatives of the Kazakh and Mongolian IT industries. Such engagement is expected to support the development of joint projects in digital technologies and innovation, while enabling businesses and technology organisations to exchange expertise and identify areas of mutual interest.
The discussions build on the broader strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Mongolia. The two countries elevated their relations to a Strategic Partnership in 2024 and identified information technology, e-government, digital development and communications among the areas for expanded cooperation. Their strategic partnership framework also supports joint projects, electronic infrastructure development and the exchange of experience in advanced technologies.

In April 2026, the presidents of Kazakhstan and Mongolia also agree to implement joint projects and programmes in information technology, alongside cooperation in sectors including mining and healthcare. The two governments continue to broaden the economic and technological dimensions of their bilateral relationship.
Following the latest discussions, Kazakhstan and Mongolia agree to maintain close working contacts and continue cooperation on matters of mutual interest.
