External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met German MP Jürgen Hardt to discuss developments in the Gulf, West Asia and Ukraine, along with India-Germany strategic cooperation. The meeting highlighted continued diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
Minister for External Affairs, S. Jaishankar met German Member of Parliament Jurgen Hardt, Spokesperson of the parliamentary group of the CDU/CSU to discuss major developments in the world and India-Germany relations.
The topics discussed included the developments in the Gulf region, West Asia, Ukraine, as well as the comprehensive India-Germany Strategic Partnership. Jaishankar said the meeting was a chance to discuss the current geopolitical situation and enhance India's cooperation with Pakistan.

The talks follow ongoing diplomatic deliberations between India and Germany on regional and international affairs. The two countries have been further strengthening the cooperation in all fields of mutual interest such as economic relations, technology, manufacturing and strategic issues.
Germany is one of India's important European partners as it has a role in European Union and has strong economic and political relations with India. In 2025, the India-Germany Strategic Partnership celebrated 25 years of partnership.25 years of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership was an important milestone in India-Germany bilateral relations in 2025.
Regular high-level political contacts have also taken place between the two countries. Jaishankar has previously had discussions with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in this regard, including at the Munich Security Conference, where the two countries discussed current developments and opportunities for further cooperation.
The economic and technological cooperation continues to be an important aspect of the relationship. On top of trade and investment ties, there are opportunities for India and Germany to expand their partnership in the field of IT, advanced manufacturing, industrial technology and other emerging industries.
This is the latest in a series of India-EU interactions involving European lawmakers and policymakers, apart from the government level. Parliamentary exchanges can be useful in fostering a wider understanding of bilateral priorities and enhance links between institutions.
