Synopsis: Cambodian and South Korean commerce chambers pledge to strengthen investment, trade and business cooperation, aiming to boost bilateral investment flows and expand private-sector partnerships across key industries.

Cambodian and South Korean business communities have confirmed their intention of developing their ties through increasing investments, trade, and cooperation among the private sectors in order to further enhance their economic relations. This decision is based on their existing economic ties which will provide new avenues for business and investment within strategic industries. Bilateral trade between Cambodia and South Korea amounted to almost US$600 million in the first six months of 2026.

The commitment is established in a more formal way through the increased level of cooperation between the CCC and the KOCHAM. It is agreed that the two organizations will cooperate in order to ensure the establishment of business links and institutional ties and help companies that would like to expand their operations in the respective countries.

The business chambers acknowledge the importance of investment promotion as one of the top priorities, considering the rising attractiveness of Cambodia as an investment and manufacturing location. South Korean companies still demonstrate their growing interest in sectors like manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, technology and services, while Cambodian companies desire to gain more access to South Korea's markets, investments and technologies.

On their part, both sides underscore the significance of increasing business interaction through such activities as trade missions, networking events, and investment forums. The rationale behind these activities is to facilitate interaction between entrepreneurs for the purpose of developing partnerships and exchanging ideas between firms operating from both nations. Collaboration between the private sector actors is regarded as essential for creating new business prospects.

In addition, the chambers also commit to assisting firms through enhanced exchange of information regarding investment laws, market opportunities, and policy changes. Through provision of enhanced institutional support, the goal is to lower the impediments to investments, ease market access and increase involvement of SMEs in international business transactions.

In fact, both countries have encouraged economic collaboration through the implementation of favorable business policies.

The trade chambers are optimistic that through closer cooperation among the two business communities, there will be economic gains for the two nations. By encouraging investments, making trade easier, and working towards institutional cooperation, Cambodia and South Korea seek to deepen their economic relationship and make sure that the private sector plays a bigger role in the process.
