India and Israel are developing their security partnership through new defense and diplomatic initiatives which will increase their cooperation.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel announced his intention to create a security alliance with India Greece Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates to combat what he described as an expanding radical Islamic axis in the Middle East.
Netanyahu referred to India as a global power which serves as a major partner for nations that share similar values. The announcement occurs before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Israel which demonstrates the importance both nations place on building stronger diplomatic relations.
Over the past ten years India and Israel have developed the defence sector through extensive cooperation because India has become a major buyer of Israel's military equipment and services.
The discussions which will take place during Modi's visit will lead to new areas of collaboration between the two parties especially in advanced missile systems and cybersecurity and defence research and development.
