Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong has urged Intel to increase its investments in semiconductor packaging, testing operations, and research and development of semiconductor microchip products in Vietnam during a recent visit to the Intel Products Vietnam facility in Ho Chi Minh City.
He also recommended that Intel create an ecosystem in Vietnam to support startups and engage with microchip research and development centers. Vietnam seeks to enhance its semiconductor sector within the framework of developed nations, particularly the United States and Intel, fostering a collaboration that integrates and supports one another while utilizing existing capabilities and Vietnam's geopolitical advantages.
Simultaneously, he urged Intel to grow its R&D center or partner with Vietnamese companies to invest in labs, simulations, and testing within the semiconductor sector, emphasizing the creation of specialized chips for digital transformation areas and enhancing manufacturing activities along with ATP (assembly, testing, and packaging) operations in Vietnam.

He also proposed that Intel engage in training initiatives for design engineers and microchip development, as well as work with universities and research institutions to develop skilled human resources in the semiconductor sector.
Mr. Kenneth Tse, General Director of Intel Vietnam, stated that Intel will support and actively engage in executing initiatives and tasks of the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy, share insights on ecosystem development and high-quality workforce training, and create specialized chips for use in industries and areas of digital transformation.
