India and the United Arab Emirates review progress in their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s official visit to India. The visit reinforces bilateral engagement and reflects both countries’ commitment to expanding cooperation across key sectors.
During the visit, Sheikh Abdullah holds delegation-level talks with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. They also acknowledge recent high-level diplomatic exchanges, including Jaishankar’s visit to Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, which supports continued engagement between the two governments.

Economic cooperation remains central to the partnership. Jaishankar highlights the contribution of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed in 2022, to expanding commercial relations. He says bilateral trade has crossed $100 billion since the agreement’s implementation, while two-way investments continue to increase, reflecting growing business confidence in both economies.
The two countries are also strengthening collaboration in defence, energy and technology, which Jaishankar describes as increasingly strategic areas of engagement. Cultural cooperation and people-to-people connections further support the relationship, linking communities and creating opportunities for broader exchanges.
Regional and international developments also feature in the discussions. Jaishankar and Sheikh Abdullah exchange perspectives on issues of mutual interest and agree to continue close and regular consultations. The talks take place amid continuing concerns over the situation in West Asia and the importance of maintaining regional stability.
Jaishankar stresses the need to support initiatives that promote peace through dialogue and diplomacy. He also underscores the importance of ensuring the free, safe and uninterrupted movement of trade, energy and fertilisers. India expresses appreciation for the UAE leadership’s efforts to safeguard the well-being of the Indian community living in the country.

The latest visit follows Jaishankar’s UAE trip from October 14 to 16, during which he discusses bilateral relations and regional developments and participates in the Raisina Middle East Dialogue in Abu Dhabi. The dialogue addresses regional connectivity, geopolitical challenges and the importance of resilient international partnerships.
India and the UAE continue to build their economic relationship through CEPA, a local-currency settlement framework and a bilateral investment treaty. The latest talks reinforce their shared objective of broadening cooperation in trade, investment, energy, defence and technology while maintaining coordination on regional and global challenges.
