Dubai to Launch 208 Ultra-Fast EV Charging Stations

Asia Manufacturing Review Team | Monday, 06 October 2025

  • DEWA & DTC partner to install 208 ultra-fast EV chargers.
  • Initial hubs near Dubai Airport & Muhaisnah 4 by late 2025.
  • Supports DTC’s 2040 full electrification and 2,500 EV goal by 2030.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) have entered into a long-term agreement to deploy 208 ultra-fast EV charging stations throughout the emirate, aimed at accelerating the electrification of the taxi fleet and reducing transportation emissions. The agreement was finalized at WETEX 2025 and is included in DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative.

The initial stage will inaugurate two primary charging stations: DTC’s facility close to Dubai International Airport and DTC’s main office in Muhaisnah 4. The stations will feature advanced chargers with capacities reaching 360 kW, designed to accommodate the growing electric taxi fleet and enable rapid vehicle turnaround times. The deployment of 208 points will occur throughout the contract duration and aligns with DTC's wider fleet transformation strategies.

Dubai's new high-speed EV charging stations are set to launch in late 2025, with the initial two significant hubs functioning near Dubai International Airport (DTC depot) and Muhaisnah 4 (DTC headquarters). The complete network of 208 charging stations is anticipated to be gradually finished within the next 12–18 months, providing more extensive access for taxi drivers and public electric vehicle users.

The charging service aims to be both affordable and convenient for drivers. DEWA has announced that the pricing will adhere to standard EV Green Charger rates, with possible special pricing for fleet operators such as Dubai Taxi Company to facilitate the shift to electric vehicles.

Motorists can pay via DEWA’s mobile application, smart cards, or contactless payment options at every station, ensuring a smooth experience. Access is easy: taxi operators and individual EV owners can sign up through the DEWA EV Green Charger portal or app, choose the closest available charger, and begin charging right after registration.

This implementation guarantees that drivers experience minimal interruptions, can organize routes effectively around charging locations, and gain from an expanding, dependable EV infrastructure. Through meticulous planning, fleet operators can enhance schedules and lower operational expenses while supporting Dubai’s green mobility and carbon reduction objectives.

DTC intends to electrify its complete range of taxis and limousines by 2040, with the electric vehicle fleet projected to exceed 2,500 units by 2030. Ultra-rapid chargers (reaching 360 kW) will reduce charging times and enhance operational efficiency for drivers, enabling taxis to get back on the road more quickly.

This agreement enhances additional private-sector implementations in Dubai aimed at reducing charging times to “under 30 minutes” at numerous ultra-fast locations. Collectively, these actions enhance the feasibility of daily EV operations for commercial fleets and drivers.
