  • China-Singapore Green Development Forum advances sustainable, intelligent urbanization through collaboration.
  • Tianjin Eco-City becomes national model for low-carbon growth with strategic roadmap.
  • Forum launched the green building center, the technology coalition, and the cultural cooperation alliance.

More than 300 representatives from government, industry groups, academic institutions, and businesses recently gathered at the China-Singapore Green Development Forum to outline a roadmap for more sustainable, intelligent urban futures.

Held in the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-Cities—a key bilateral initiative—the forum focused on enhancing collaboration in sustainable urban development with the theme "China and Singapore establish the foundation of green growth, strengthen cooperation on new city construction."

This year's assembly represented an important milestone. After the State Council's endorsement in August 2024 of a comprehensive green development strategy, the Eco-City will establish itself as a national model for low-carbon urbanization by 2035.

In a declaration, the head of the Eco-City's administrative committee, Wang Guoliang, stated that the area is dedicated to transforming into an improved model of a national green development demonstration zone.

The area utilizes six essential pillars such as eco-friendly and low-carbon industrial growth and green energy transition and 247 specific implementation strategies to propel the coordinated advancement of its "five key dimensions": industry, ecology, intelligence, openness, and vitality.

The Eco-City is actively engaged in both planning and implementation, achieving a significant 11.2 percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the year's first half, indicating that green policies are fueling economic progress.

A number of important collaborative results were achieved between China and Singapore at the forum. The international demonstration center for green and low-carbon building located in Singapore was officially opened.

Simultaneously, the global coalition for green and low-carbon building technology collaboration and the China-Singapore alliance for cultural, tourism, and educational cooperation were initiated together.
