  • China and Kazakhstan sign 18 cooperation projects across key sectors.
  • Partnerships focus on logistics, e-commerce, digital economy, and energy.
  • Bilateral trade reached $43.82 billion, strengthening economic relations.

At the 8th China-Kazakhstan Business Council, companies from both nations finalized 18 cooperation projects and agreements covering new energy, finance, robotics, the digital economy, logistics, and industrial parks, signifying a significant advancement in economic relations. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim attended the meetings.

Li Kangchao, general manager of Beijing Polyking New Horizons Technology Industry Co, emphasized the vast opportunities for collaboration between China and Kazakhstan in e-commerce and logistics, merging technology with conventional industries.

"The signing of the cooperation agreements was witnessed by President Tokayev. The Kazakh government has consistently assigned dedicated personnel to oversee progress in payment settlements, logistics infrastructure, and e-commerce platform development between Chinese and Kazakh enterprises. This reflects the strong commitment of President Tokayev and Kazakhstan's business communities to actively collaborate with China," said Li.

According to Xinhua, the Beijing firm established a partnership with Kazpost JSC, Kazakhstan's national postal service, for e-commerce platform collaboration at the inaugural China-Kazakhstan Forum on Exchanges and Cooperation in High-Tech Industries in June.

In 2024, bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and China hit $43.82 billion, with China continuing to be Kazakhstan's top trading partner, according to Xinhua.

"We are generally open to working with companies from China," Bekezhan Zhakeev, the chairman of Kazpost JSC's board, informed the Global Times during the 8th China-Kazakhstan Business Council.

"At a meeting in Beijing on Monday, Yu Weijiao, chairman of YTO Express Group Co, and I discussed the development of the KazPost-YTO joint venture, the implementation of YTO Express' strategy to enter Central Asia, and the expansion of international transit routes."

Zhakeev emphasized that the partnership between Kazpost JSC and CITIC Poly Fund relies on a strategic outlook for advancing the postal and logistics sector in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. "The key areas of cooperation will be the development of a marketplace, logistics infrastructure, digitalization of services and the introduction of innovative solutions in the field of e-commerce."

Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), stated that both parties should maximize trade and investment opportunities by utilizing the advantages of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as Malaysia's abundant agricultural and energy resources align well with China's extensive market.
