Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have signed a 2026-2028 roadmap aimed at expanding cooperation in the energy sector, covering green energy, oil and gas, energy efficiency and investment. The agreement marks a new phase in the two countries’ energy partnership.
The roadmap was signed during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjayev. The officials reviewed the development of their energy partnership and discussed areas for further cooperation.

According to Shahbazov, the discussions focused on strengthening energy ties in line with the development of the two countries’ strategic partnership and allied relations. The talks also covered the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor, which is emerging as an area of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries.
The roadmap includes cooperation in renewable energy, oil and gas, energy efficiency and investment. These areas provide a framework for the two countries to coordinate on energy projects, technology and investment opportunities during the 2026–2028 period.
The Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor is among the key initiatives discussed by the ministers. The proposed corridor is intended to facilitate cooperation on the development and transmission of renewable electricity between participating countries, supporting greater regional energy connectivity.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have also been expanding their broader economic and strategic engagement. Energy cooperation forms part of this relationship, with both countries exploring opportunities to develop projects and increase investment links across the sector.
The latest agreement provides a three-year framework for identifying and implementing new initiatives. Cooperation in renewable energy and energy efficiency could support the development of cleaner energy capacity, while continued engagement in oil and gas provides scope for collaboration across established parts of the energy industry.

The signing also comes as Azerbaijan increases its focus on renewable energy development. The country is pursuing several renewable projects and regional electricity connectivity initiatives, while Uzbekistan is expanding its own renewable energy capacity and seeking international partnerships in the sector.
Through the new roadmap, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will continue consultations on energy projects, investment and technology, with the agreement establishing a framework for cooperation through 2028.
