Tajikistan opens 18 industrial, educational and social facilities in the Sughd region, creating 850 jobs, with projects spanning manufacturing, agricultural processing, schools, healthcare and retail services.

Tajikistan has inaugurated 18 new industrial, educational and social facilities in the Sughd region, creating 850 employment opportunities as part of its efforts to expand regional development and strengthen domestic manufacturing. President Emomali Rahmon opened the facilities during a working visit to the region. The projects are located in the cities of Buston, Khujand and Kanibadam, as well as the Bobojon Ghafurov district.

The newly inaugurated facilities include seven industrial enterprises, two schools with a combined capacity of 1,540 students, four kindergartens accommodating 760 children and a medical college designed for 750 students. The projects cover manufacturing, agricultural processing, education, healthcare and commercial services.

In Buston, a new animal feed manufacturing plant operated by Barс Company's Bazai Ta'minot enterprise has started production. The facility has an annual capacity of 37,440 tonnes of feed for livestock, poultry and fish, creating approximately 70 permanent jobs. The development is expected to support domestic feed production and reduce reliance on imports. Tajikistan imported animal feed worth around US$100 million in 2025, while annual domestic demand is estimated at 450,000 tonnes.

Another facility, Agrоtrading, has opened in Buston with the capacity to process 24,000 tonnes of rice annually. The enterprise has created 40 jobs. In the Bobojon Ghafurov district, the Sirdaryo plant has begun processing fruits and vegetables and manufacturing fruit juices and soft drinks. With five production lines, it can produce 240 tonnes of juice and 400,000 litres of beverages annually, providing employment for 85 people.

The district has also opened the Sughd Mall shopping and service centre, which includes retail outlets, a restaurant and a cafeteria. The complex is expected to provide jobs for 350 people.

Kanibadam has received 13 new industrial and social facilities, including a poultry farm with an annual production capacity of 300 tonnes of meat, a cast-iron manufacturing enterprise capable of producing 600 tonnes of castings annually, a dried-fruit processing plant and an asphalt-concrete facility. The city has also inaugurated two schools, a medical college and three kindergartens.

The new educational institutions are expected to expand access to schooling and healthcare training, while the industrial projects will support local processing, construction and manufacturing activities.

According to the authorities, a total of 84 facilities are planned for inauguration during the president's regional visit, with the programme expected to generate 2,400 jobs. The developments form part of Tajikistan's wider efforts to strengthen industrialisation, improve public infrastructure and expand employment opportunities outside major urban centres.
