Armenia and the UK discuss strengthening trade and economic ties, with Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan highlighting greater participation by British businesses in Armenia’s economic development.
Armenia and the United Kingdom have discussed ways to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation, with a focus on increasing the participation of British businesses in Armenia’s economic development.
Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan held a meeting with UK Ambassador to Armenia Alexandra Cole, during which the two sides reviewed issues on the bilateral agenda arising from the countries’ strategic partnership. Regional developments were also discussed during the meeting, according to a government readout.

Grigoryan highlighted the importance of expanding trade and economic relations between Armenia and the UK. He particularly stressed the role of British companies in supporting Armenia’s economic development and contributing to the establishment of what the Armenian government described as a proper business culture in the country.
The meeting comes as Armenia continues to seek greater diversification of its international economic partnerships. The government has been engaging with European and other international partners on trade, investment, infrastructure and technology as part of efforts to expand economic opportunities.
The Armenian government has also been promoting greater foreign investment in the country. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier that the establishment of peace with Azerbaijan could make Armenia more attractive for investment, while discussing regional connectivity and economic opportunities at the Concordia Annual Summit in New York.
Connectivity has emerged as another area of focus in Armenia’s economic agenda. Pashinyan said implementation of the TRIPP project would help unlock regional connectivity and support the country’s Crossroads of Peace initiative. The government has linked improved regional transport connections with broader economic opportunities and trade flows.
The UK and Armenia have maintained diplomatic relations while expanding cooperation across political, economic and other areas. Discussions on increasing business engagement could provide opportunities for British companies to participate in sectors connected to Armenia’s economic development.

The latest meeting between Grigoryan and Cole therefore adds to ongoing bilateral engagement, with trade and investment, business participation forming important components of the countries’ economic relationship.
