In collaboration with the British Embassy in Vietnam, the National Innovation Center (NIC) organized the Vietnam-UK Semiconductor Forum in Hanoi.

The event featured technological companies, research institutions, universities, organisations, and specialists of both countries to contribute to developing cooperation in the semiconductor sector being one of the strategic fields highlighted by the Vietnamese Party and State as the driver of social and economic growth in the period of digital transformation and integration into the world.

At the forum, NIC director Vu Quoc Huy said Vietnam has come to a decisive moment of growth, in its transition towards sustainable growth, driven by science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, and semiconductors had been adopted as part of the list of strategic technological industries.

He said that the Party and State have issued numerous significant policies, such as Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation, the plan on developing the semiconductor industry, and a human resources development programme in this field.   Also Read: Trump to Hit Steel Chips with Tariffs Eyes Putin Trade Talks

“We are committed to accompanying and creating the most favourable conditions for international enterprises and organisations, including our partners from the UK, to expand cooperation in research, development, production, and business in Vietnam,” Huy affirmed.

Iain Frew, the British ambassador to Vietnam, discussed the UK's plans for the semiconductor sector and emphasized that both nations prioritize technology in their national development plans, with semiconductors being a key component.

According to him, this event is a significant first step in creating new relationships and opportunities that will allow the two nations to fulfill their commitments to strategic collaboration and establish semiconductors as a cornerstone of Vietnam-UK relations.

The development goals of the semiconductor industry and the possibility for cooperation between the nations in this priority area were extensively discussed by delegates from both sides at the event.
