Asia Manufacturing Review Team | Monday, 02 February 2026

  • Vietnam’s motorbike market recorded Southeast Asia’s fastest growth, driven by strong domestic demand and electrification.
  • Electric two-wheelers surged as policies, urban mobility needs, and local manufacturers fueled adoption nationwide growth.
  • Vietnam ranks among world’s largest two-wheeler markets, reshaping regional competition and sustainability trends across Asia.

Vietnam's motorbike market showed significant growth during 2025 when it reached 14.9% growth through 2025 which marked the highest expansion rate across Southeast Asia according to industry data.

Vietnam achieved the second-largest motorbike market in the region after Indonesia which sold 6.5 million units by selling 3.4 million motorbikes during the previous year. The country currently ranks fourth among global markets for motorbikes while it stands third for electric two-wheeled vehicles.

The increase exists because people want electric motorbikes which both local and global manufacturers increase production while they develop new products.

Electric mobility investments create market changes that enable VinFast to achieve more than 500% sales growth according to domestic brands which testify to local manufacturers rapid market expansion.

Meanwhile other companies which include Yadea Pega and Dibao experienced substantial sales growth which shows that Vietnamese consumers have strong interest in electric models.

Vietnam needs electric two-wheelers because its government policies and increasing environmental awareness will create better transportation solutions.

Authorities in Hanoi will implement a complete ban on internal combustion engine vehicles starting in July 2026 which will result in faster electric bike adoption before the upcoming regulatory changes. The policy direction works to decrease air pollution while creating environmentally friendly transportation systems for cities.

The existing market shows mature status because customers demonstrate strong loyalty toward established gasoline motorcycle brands which include Honda. Honda’s growth stayed within modest limits while Yamaha experienced a decrease in its sales performance.

Electric-centered businesses are transforming how customers choose their products which drive the market toward environmentally friendly transportation options.
