Viet Nam Seeks Deeper Strategic Partnership With Kazakhstan

Vietnam seeks to deepen its strategic partnership with Kazakhstan by expanding trade, investment, logistics, tourism, education and cultural cooperation while turning high-level agreements into practical outcomes.

Vietnam is striving to further deepen the strategic partnership with Kazakhstan in the fields of trade, investment, transport and logistics, tourism and cultural and educational exchanges. The decision follows the upgrading of the bilateral relationship between the two nations and a desire to turn it into more tangible and beneficial results.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Nguyen Thanh Le on August 19 presented his credentials to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at Ak Orda Presidential Palace in Astana, thus entering the discharge of his duties in Kazakhstan. Le said after the ceremony that he will closely cooperate with Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government bodies and local authorities to develop and bring to life existing agreements and build political trust between the two states.

The ambassador pointed to a few fields in which Vietnam and Kazakhstan can further strengthen ties, such as economic cooperation, trade and investment, transportation and logistics, tourism, culture, education and people-to-people relations. He added the importance of putting agreements and cooperation mechanisms at a high level into action and implementing effective measures that bring results.

The diplomatic meeting follows the strengthening of Vietnam-Kazakhstan's relationship to a strategic partnership in May 2025 during Party General Secretary to Lam's state visit to Kazakhstan. Le's appointment comes after a previous meeting with Kazakhstan's Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Kuantyrov on June 22, during which the two sides discussed ways to boost bilateral relations. The conversations highlight the countries' commitment to continue momentum after upgrading their partnership.

The Vietnamese government and the Kazakh government signed a bilateral diplomatic agreement on 29th June 1992. Through political engagement, economic cooperation and exchanges between their people, the relationship has been evolving over the last 30 years. The two countries have also kept in touch and provided mutual support at the UN and other international gatherings.

Now that the partnership has been established, Vietnam will strive to further deepen practical cooperation and connectivity between Southeast and Central Asia through the partnership. Trade, investment, transport and logistics are likely to be a significant areas of bilateral engagement to ensure greater economic depth for the relationship.
