UAE President to Visit Pakistan to Boost Trade, Investment

Asia Manufacturing Review | Friday, 26 December 2025

  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed's visit to Pakistan on 26 December 2025 aims to strengthen economic ties
  • Pakistan is expected to benefit from UAE investments in sectors like infrastructure, agriculture, and manufacturing
  • The visit occurs amid shifting Gulf geopolitics, with Pakistan looking to deepen relations with Gulf states

President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will fly to Pakistan on 26 December 2025 for a state visit that would be a turning point between the two countries economically.

This visit will not only be the first by a UAE president to Pakistan but also the most encouraging one as Islamabad is seriously working on luring foreign investors and strengthening its alliances with Gulf countries.

Discussions will revolve around trade, investment, energy cooperation, and development initiatives, besides the meetings between UAE president and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other government officials. The UAE is a very important economic partner for Pakistan and is considered as one of the top trading partners and investors of the country.

The visit is a result of the signing of a Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia which took place at the beginning of 2025 and was seen as a major diplomatic turning point.

Even though the UAE visit is mainly centered on economic cooperation, some analysts are of the view that security issues could be discussed too, especially in the light of Pakistan's increasing defense cooperation with the Gulf States.

The visit is an opportunity that Pakistan is going to make the most out of, as the UAE is likely to support the country’s economic revival by investing in various sectors that include infrastructure, energy, and finance, thanks to the bright and ever-growing UAE sovereign wealth fund.

Trade and market access for Pakistani exports, especially meat and other agricultural products, will likely be the center of attention during the visit. The visit may open up new avenues for investment in manufacturing, logistics, energy, and technology which will contribute to Pakistan's economic recovery and provide more job opportunities.

For the UAE, the partnership with Pakistan is the gateway for entering the big South Asian market that is strategically located and has potential for sharing the benefits of collaboration in energy and infrastructure. This visit is part of the larger picture of increased Gulf-Pakistan interaction which has the potential to stabilize the region and create a more integrated South Asian-Gulf partnership.

The visit bears mainly economic nature but it takes place in a changing geopolitical context where the Gulf nations like Saudi Arabia and the UAE are trying to keep a balanced relationship with India taking the Indian regional player.

The UAE's visit is undoubtedly focused on economic matters, but its strategic consequences for the region might be gradual as the two countries move closer through economic cooperation. For Pakistan, the visit could be regarded as a golden opportunity to strengthen its trade ties and pull in direct investment, which would be paving the way for the Gulf-South Asian diplomacy being more active and fruitful in the years to come.
