India-Japan Semiconductor Forum Strengthens Global Ties

The India-Japan Semiconductor Forum, which was held at SEMICON Japan 2025 in Tokyo, was a landmark event in the mutual enhancement of the technology-based economic relationship between the two countries.

It was a gathering of policy makers, industry representatives, and the main participants in the market, discussing the future creation of global chip production and the supply chain being resilient, sustainable and competitive.

The deep strategic trust between India and Japan, which has been reflected by the increasing collaboration between the two countries in the semiconductor value chain, was indeed the main theme of the event.

Sharing of leadership insights came to be from a rare group of personalities that included Amitesh Kumar Sinha, the head of the India Semiconductor Mission, Hidemichi Shimizu from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ajit Manocha, SEMI's CEO, amongst others. Their conversations pointed out to the need for policy-industry alignment in order to develop globally competitive semiconductor capabilities.

Ashok Chandak, the President of SEMI India and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), spoke about the great possibility of the India–Japan relationship. He made it clear that the amazing combination of Japan’s manufacturing capabilities, India’s brain power and policy drive could be a mighty power in the global semiconductor ecosystem.

The topics of the discussions were mainly semiconductor policies, human capital development, academic partnerships, advanced packaging and R&D collaboration.

Major companies from both countries like Tokyo Electron, Sony Semiconductor Solutions, KIOXIA Group, and Kaynes Semicon were very much involved in the forum, and they all had a common goal of making trust come to life through practical, long-term cooperation.

The forum at SEMICON Japan 2025 proved that the semiconductor collaboration between India and Japan is not only very timely but also of great strategic importance for the future of the global semiconductor industry.
