The Turkmenistan and United Kingdom (UK) diplomatic team conducted their high-level meeting in London to explore new ways of establishing international ties between their two nations.

The meeting occurred during the first Central Asia-UK ministerial dialogue which took place at Lancaster House on February 26, 2026 to strengthen UK relations with Central Asian nations including Turkmenistan.

The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a meeting with Yvette Cooper the UK Foreign Secretary and Stephen Doughty the UK Minister to discuss methods for strengthening their strategic and economic and cultural ties.

The two parties reached an agreement to expand their collaborative efforts for which they recognized green technologies and digital transformation and transportation and economic development as essential areas of their relationship.

The two nations established cultural exchanges to strengthen their ties while they dedicated resources to develop their bilateral relationship beyond economic factors.

The meeting ended with the signing of multiple bilateral documents which established specific methods for cooperation between the two parties in their chosen priority fields.

The Central Asia-UK initiative operates as a complete range of strategic relations between the UK and Central Asian countries through its focus on trade and investment and regional security matters.

The discussions provide Turkmenistan with an opportunity to establish new international relationships while bringing foreign investments into its developing renewable energy and digitalization sectors.

The London discussions reached a significant advancement because they established a framework which enables Turkmenistan and the UK to improve their diplomatic relations through three different areas of cooperation.
