Synopsis:  Turkmenistan and China are strengthening parliamentary cooperation to support strategic projects, enhance legislative exchanges, and deepen the China–Central Asia cooperation framework through dialogue and training initiatives.

Turkmenistan and China are expanding interparliamentary cooperation as both countries seek to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance coordination on strategic development initiatives. The discussions take place in Ashgabat during a meeting between representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Chinese Ambassador to Turkmenistan.

The talks focus on opportunities to further develop cooperation between the two legislative bodies and strengthen institutional ties. Officials highlight that relations between Turkmenistan and China continue to grow across multiple sectors, supported by the commitment of both countries’ leadership.

The two sides emphasize that parliamentary cooperation has become an important component of bilateral relations. Exchanges between the parliaments contribute to improving legislative coordination and creating stronger support mechanisms for economic, diplomatic, and strategic projects between the two nations.

The seminar aims to improve legislative cooperation, exchange best practices, and strengthen the China–Central Asia cooperation mechanism.

The initiative reflects China’s broader efforts to enhance engagement with Central Asian nations through diplomatic, economic, and institutional partnerships. For Turkmenistan, stronger parliamentary ties with China support its goals of expanding international cooperation and promoting sustainable development.

China and Turkmenistan have maintained strong diplomatic relations, with cooperation expanding significantly in recent years. Energy partnerships, particularly in the natural gas sector, remain a major foundation of bilateral economic relations, while new opportunities continue to emerge in transportation, technology, and regional development.
