French energy giant TotalEnergies and Abu Dhabi-based renewable energy firm Masdar have established a major joint venture to drive renewable energy development throughout Asia.
The partnership will implement through nine Asian countries a combined platform which unites both companies' onshore renewable energy assets to achieve their expansion goals in emerging energy markets.
Under the agreement, both companies will hold equal 50% stakes in the new Abu Dhabi-headquartered venture. The joint entity will operate a large portfolio which consists of 3 gigawatts (GW) of active renewable energy capacity and 6 GW of projects that are presently in their advanced development phase.
The projects use solar and wind and battery storage technologies to create a complete solution for clean energy deployment.
The collaboration serves as a strategic initiative which aims to address the increasing electricity needs of Asia because this demand will drive global energy usage in upcoming years.

TotalEnergies and Masdar will create a powerful renewable energy platform through their combined financial resources and technical knowledge and local expertise.
The joint venture will serve as the exclusive vehicle for developing, building, owning, and operating onshore renewable projects across multiple Asian markets, including countries such as Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and others.
The current action will enhance both companies' abilities to transition toward clean energy while they work to achieve their sustainability objectives in particular regions.
Through their partnership, five companies demonstrate the active trend of international renewable energy research, which they use to develop clean energy solutions that will meet growing worldwide energy needs.
