India Strengthens Energy Ties With UAE, Canada at IEW

India used the India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 conference in Goa to deepen its energy cooperation with international partners especially United Arab Emirates and Canada while demonstrating its emerging status as a global energy leader.

The three countries conducted strategic talks during the event which senior officials and energy ministers attended to sign agreements that would improve their energy security and trade and infrastructure development and their long-term investment strategies.

A key highlight was the reaffirmation of India-UAE energy ties which the UAE used to establish itself as a reliable energy supplier for India during times of increasing energy demand. UAE officials stressed their intent to maintain permanent partnerships for crude oil and liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas supplies because they viewed India as their primary market which operates as one of the fastest expanding energy markets.

The two countries established a new partnership which will develop clean energy value chains and feedstock production processes in addition to their existing hydrocarbon-based energy systems.

The two countries established a partnership which included a new energy trade agreement and an India–Canada Ministerial Energy Dialogue as its main element. The officials from both countries identified business opportunities which included trading LNG and LPG and crude oil products and working together on critical minerals and clean technologies and investment facilitation.

Canada marked its first attendance at IEW 2026 with ministerial participation which showed a renewed focus on energy relations between the two countries. The two countries emphasized that they needed diverse and strong supply chains while working together on their extended projects.

The IEW 2026 developments demonstrate India’s commitment to energy security through international partnership building. India establishes itself as a central force in future energy market development through its strengthened connections with major energy suppliers such as the UAE and Canada.
