South Korean investors have invested more than $8.37 billion across 469 active projects in Dong Nai, Vietnam, making South Korea the largest foreign investor in the city by registered investment capital. The investments span manufacturing, electronics, components, spare parts, logistics and related industries, according to a report published by DTiNews.

The figures were highlighted at the 2026 South Korean Business Meeting, jointly organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dong Nai authorities. South Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Lee Miyon said Korean businesses had maintained an active presence in Dong Nai since the two countries established diplomatic relations. Their investments have contributed to industrial production, employment and economic links between the two countries. According to the report, these projects have created jobs for more than 170,000 workers.

Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van highlighted Dong Nai’s strategic position within southern Vietnam’s manufacturing and logistics network. The expected launch of Long Thanh International Airport is also seen as an opportunity to strengthen the city’s role as a centre for industry, logistics and innovation.

South Korea is also Vietnam’s largest foreign investor nationally, with nearly 10,600 projects and registered capital exceeding $102.7 billion. It is Vietnam’s third-largest trading partner. Bilateral trade reached $82 billion during the first eight months of 2026, the highest total recorded for the same period, putting the two countries on course to surpass $100 billion in trade for the full year. Their longer-term target is to reach $150 billion in bilateral trade by 2030.

The meeting also featured discussions on sustainable investment, trade, high-quality workforce development, science and technology, and cultural industries in the digital economy. Dong Nai is seeking to attract further investment by supporting business activity and expanding cooperation with South Korean companies.
