  • Four Saudi firms sign agreements to support Syria’s oil and gas development.
  • Deals cover gas field development, well services, seismic surveys, and production enhancement.
  • Partnerships aim to boost efficiency, expand exploration, and strengthen Syria’s energy sector.

Four Saudi companies signed agreements with the Syrian Petroleum Co. under the oversight of the Ministry of Energy, focusing on technical assistance, development, and production in the oil and gas fields of Syria. The firms from Saudi Arabia comprise TAQA, ADES Holding Co., Arabian Drilling Co., and Arabian Geophysical & Surveying Co.

These pacts represent an expansion of the ongoing collaboration between the Kingdom and the Syrian Arab Republic in the energy sector, aimed at executing the memoranda of understanding signed on August 28, along with the subsequent workshops and site visits to relevant areas and facilities.

The signed agreements encompass a contract between ADES Holding Co. and the Syrian Petroleum Co., outlining the key principles for the development, operation, and production of gas fields. Its goal is to set the foundations and conditions that will underpin the definitive technical service agreement, as well as the development and operation of gas fields and related facilities within the contract area to enhance current production levels.

This encompasses five gas fields: Abu Rabah, Qumqum, North Al-Faidh, Tayyas, and Zamlah Al-Mahr, along with any other region subsequently agreed upon by both parties.

A master services agreement was established between TAQA and the Syrian company to provide advanced and integrated solutions and services for developing and sustaining oil and gas fields and wells in Syria. This agreement seeks to improve operational efficiency and boost oil and gas production by utilizing integrated and advanced solutions for well construction and maintenance, adopting the latest global technologies and employing modern equipment.

A separate master services agreement with the ARCAS was signed, focused on delivering technical services in 2D and 3D seismic survey methods to aid exploration and drilling initiatives in the oil and gas industry. It also seeks to create a sustainable strategic partnership framework to aid and advance oil exploration and enhance the Syrian energy sector, guaranteeing quick responses and adaptability, as well as enabling the prompt initiation of technical projects.

The most recent accord on essential principles was established with the Arabian Drilling Co. to deliver oil and gas well drilling and maintenance services in Syria by leasing and managing platforms for drilling and servicing onshore oil and gas wells. According to this agreement, the Arabian Drilling Co. will supply drilling platforms for onshore wells, platforms for related maintenance services, and will also deliver essential maintenance services, operational assistance, and training and development for the local workforce.
