Oman and Lebanon have signed an MoU to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, fisheries and food security through technical knowledge exchange, resource utilisation and sustainable development initiatives.

Oman and Lebanon have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in agriculture, fisheries and food security, with a focus on sustainable development and the exchange of technical expertise. The agreement aims to support productive sectors and improve the utilisation of resources available in both countries.

The MoU was signed by Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and Lebanon’s Ministry of Agriculture. Dr Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, signed the agreement on behalf of Oman, while Dr Nizar Youssef Hani, Lebanon’s Minister of Agriculture, represented the Lebanese side.

Under the agreement, both countries intend to expand cooperation across agricultural and fisheries activities while sharing expertise, practical experience and technical knowledge. The collaboration is expected to contribute to the development of their agricultural and fisheries sectors and support broader sustainable development objectives.

Food security is another key focus of the agreement. By strengthening cooperation and making better use of their respective capabilities and resources, Oman and Lebanon aim to support efforts to improve food security and build stronger productive sectors. The MoU also provides a framework for developing partnerships in areas of mutual interest.

The agreement reflects the two countries’ efforts to deepen bilateral relations and broaden cooperation beyond existing areas of engagement. Through the exchange of knowledge and experience, both sides seek to identify opportunities that can contribute to agricultural development and long-term sustainability.

The partnership places agriculture, fisheries and food security at the centre of their shared development priorities. While the agreement establishes a framework for cooperation, its broader impact will depend on how the two countries translate the commitments into practical collaboration and initiatives.
