- Malaysia eyes collaboration with Singapore on govtech systems
- Focus also on public housing models and civil service reforms
- Singapore welcomes knowledge sharing to boost public services
Malaysia and Singapore are currently investigating strategic collaboration in three key areas — government technology, public housing, and public sector reform — to enhance public service delivery.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar stated that these were the key areas for collaboration highlighted during his three-day official visit to Singapore, which started on Friday.
“We want to learn from Singapore. Firstly, in regard to govtech, as they have already implemented it, while we are in the process of launching our own.
“Secondly, their affordable housing through the Singapore Housing Board. And thirdly, we want to learn about reforms in the public service,” he said.
He addressed reporters following the initiation of the Alumni Association of MRSM Malaysia (Ansara Malaysia) Sports Carnival here on Sunday.
Shamsul Azri stated that Singapore embraced the collaboration and sharing of best practices between the two nations to enhance the quality of public service.

“Singapore welcomed our proposals… we also had sessions with them to discuss strategic cooperation between the Malaysian government and the Singaporean government,” he added.
Previously, in his address, he encouraged Malaysians to embrace a healthy way of living by participating in sports and maintaining proper nutrition.
Using Singapore as an illustration, he stated that their typical life expectancy is 83.5 years, while in Malaysia it is approximately 75 years.
