According to Boeing's Commercial Market Outlook for South Asia airlines in India and South Asia will need to acquire approximately 3300additional aircraft by 2044 to meet the increasing air travel demand which will occur during that period.
The region displays strong growth potential because its population experiences, income growth and middle-class expansion and the area receive significant airport development and urban connectivity projects.
The region will experience 7% annual passenger air traffic growth throughout the next two decades which requires airlines to expand their capacity.
Airline companies will focus on expanding their domestic and regional short- and medium-haul services which will result in single-aisle aircraft making up 90% of their new aircraft deliveries.
The present aircraft fleet in India and South Asia contains approximately 795 planes but experts predict that number will increase to about 2925 aircraft by the year 2044 which represents almost a fourfold increase.

The region will experience rising demand for freighter aircraft because of increasing e-commerce business and high-tech manufacturing operations.
Boeing's projection targets future demand for aviation staff because it forecasts that airlines will require 45000 pilots and 45000 technicians and 51000 cabin crew members during the next 20 years to meet their expansion needs.
The report states that new wide-body jet aircraft will enable Indian and South Asian airlines to improve their international flight connections to Middle Eastern and European and North American markets while the entire aviation industry requires over 195 billion dollars in services which includes maintenance and repairs and digital solutions and training to support its growth.
