India and Japan have committed to expanding their partnership in critical fields of clean energy, encompassing carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS), green chemicals, biofuels, and cutting-edge technology. Manohar Lal, India's minister of power, and Muto Yoji, Japan's minister of economy, trade, and industry, co-chaired a virtual ministerial-level India-Japan Energy Dialogue on Monday, where a decision was made.
According to the Indian Ministry of Power, the two countries have been strengthening their energy cooperation through the Japan-India Clean Energy Partnership (CEP), concentrating on shared objectives in energy security, the switch to clean energy, and combating climate change.
India and Japan have created the Energy Dialogue framework and sectoral Joint Working Groups (JWGs) to formalize collaboration. In the recent meeting, ministries from both countries, including those in charge of power, renewable energy, oil, and coal, presented updates from their individual JWGs and emphasized opportunities for future cooperation.

The ministers reiterated their dedication to improving energy security and fostering inclusive development. They embraced advancements in fields like energy efficiency, clean hydrogen, ammonia, and renewable energy. Additionally, they consented to enhance collaborative initiatives in emerging technologies such as CCUS and biofuels to promote sustainable energy transitions.
Both parties emphasized the strategic significance of the collaboration in developing secure, resilient, and sustainable energy systems throughout the Indo-Pacific area. Focusing on innovation and sustainable solutions, the India-Japan energy partnership aims to speed up low-carbon progress while promoting regional stability and development.
