Grab, WeRide to Launch Robotaxis and Shuttles Across Southeast Asia

WeRide, a front runner in the field of autonomous driving technology declared that Grab, the superapp of Southeast Asia has made a strategic equity investment in WeRide. The investment is also in consort with a strategic collaboration between the two corporations to speedily deploy and commercialise Level 4 Robotaxis and shuttles in Southeast Asia, as well as the vision of both parties to smoothly integrate services and WeRide autonomous vehicles (AVs) into Grab platform to escalate service and safety every level.

Based on WeRide's preferred timeframe and standard closing conditions, Grab's investment should be finished by the first half of 2026. It complements WeRide's growth plan, which aims to develop AI-driven mobility and increase the number of commercial AVs in Southeast Asia.

Through this collaboration, Grab's network will have a foundation for implementing autonomous solutions that will improve scalability and operational efficiency. WeRide will include its autonomous driving technology into Grab's fleet management, vehicle matching, and routing ecosystem as part of this strategic partnership.

Additionally, Grab and WeRide will upskill, train, and connect local communities and prospective Grab driver partners to high-value career opportunities in the AV sector.
